No Time to Manage? Effective Time Management for Business Owners

5 September, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Small business owner, self-employed or freelancer? Learn to manage your time effectively – possibly one of your biggest challenges.

As a small business owner or solo business person, managing your time effectively is possibly one of the biggest challenges you’ll face. When you’re running your own business:

  • Often you ARE your business meaning it can be very difficult to separate yourself away from all of those pressing tasks
  • Or maybe you’ve set up a business in an area you love but are finding that running a business is taking up all of your time so that you’re not focusing on the very thing you love doing
  • Or perhaps you’re scaling up, securing new business and taking on new staff or contractors and you’re struggling to find the time to support them as well as all of the other things you have to do.

Whether you’re just starting out, scaling up, or you’re more established, some of the most common challenges include:

  • Feeling constantly stressed, anxious or burnt-out
  • Not ever getting to the important strategic tasks that will really take your business forwards
  • Feeling guilty when you take a break or spend time away from your business
  • Not knowing how to let go or what to say no to
  • Feeling like you’ll never get control

As business owners who are already skilled at what you do, you will most likely already know or be aware of some of the most common and effective time management hacks. But the real challenge is knowing which ones to deploy in real time in your specific situation (we’re all different after all!).

This session will dive into some of the most common reasons why time management is so difficult. Reasons can include:

  • Prioritising urgent over important
  • Not believing that ‘space’ is the most valuable part of your day
  • Not being realistic with time
  • Not being aware or honest about your time preferences
  • Striving for perfectionism when good enough is enough
  • Not having clear goals, which can lead to procrastination or inertia

By the end of this session, you will be reminded of some of the most effective time management hacks to take away. But most importantly, this session will give you some deeper insight into the real reasons why you aren’t managing your time effectively, because the’s where the biggest difference will be made to you and your business. This fresh insight will help you to understand which things you really need to focus on.
