The sports event technology and ticketing company RaceNation has launched a free event day app that will allow event participants, spectators and organisers to manage, interact and schedule. Over 1,400 events including the SuperHero series, as seen on Channel 4 and the Muscular Dystrophy series will benefit from downloads and donations.

The app, offered as standard to organisers using RaceNation services to manage their event registration, will feature interactive course maps built through Google Maps. The feature will provide live tracking for spectators to view the progress of friends and family, as well as increased information for participants notifying them of bag drops, transport links, shops and charity tents. With an in-built messaging feature, users can simply send good luck messages or notify their contacts of their position.

Event organisers are able to manage the platform from their mobile, making live interaction and updates simple. Course doctors will gain direct access via the app to up to date medical records in case of emergencies.

With SportsGiving, the app has integrated a charity fundraising feature as participants and spectators with the app can donate straight to charity pages quickly or large commission fees with third party fundraising platforms.

“With a rapidly growing list of events, we pride ourselves on using the latest technology to make the event day experience better for everyone,” said Will Golder, director of RaceNation. “Never before has anyone focussed on connecting through an app the hundreds of thousands of participants to their spectators and charities that make these events so inspirational. By introducing the app, we hope to not only make the event day more inclusive, stress free and safer for any size of event, but also increase on the millions of pounds raised for charity through Sports Giving.”

Race Nation design and deliver technology solutions for mass-participation sports events such as marathons, triathlons and bike rides.
