Knowledge Hub: Accessible and Inclusive Websites (Croydon)

22 June, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

This session takes you through how an accessible website enhances your customer experience & the things you need to consider to make changes

Join us on Wednesday 22nd June, as we open your eyes and ears to accessibility.

17% of the country probably can’t use your website or engage properly with your brand.

They may be visually or hearing impaired; they may be colour blind; they may not be able to use a mouse; they may be neurodivergent. For 80% of those 11.6 million people, their disability will be invisible to others.

Accessibility is a legal requirement for public sector bodies. Whilst it’s not – or not yet – the case in the private sector, it makes good business sense to open your marketing activity to all, especially if you want customers to transact with you online.

What we will cover

In the session, we will go through:

• Accessible design, especially typefaces and colour contrast

• What areas to consider to make a website accessible

• How to audit your own website

Simon Leadbetter and Claire Scaramanga, Directors of Scaramanga Agency

After qualifying as a graphic designer, Simon became enthralled with the internet, right from the early days. He brings together both design and technical expertise and is committed to making design and websites accessible to all, as part of Scaramanga Agency’s focus on inclusive marketing.

Claire has always worked in marketing, both in-house and for blue-chip clients agency-side. She heads up the marketing team delivering inclusive marketing campaigns and helping brands tell their ESG story.
