17% of the country probably can’t use your website or engage properly with your brand.
They may be visually or hearing impaired; they may be colour blind; they may not be able to use a mouse; they may be neurodivergent. For 80% of those 11.6 million people, their disability will be invisible to others.
Accessibility is a legal requirement for public sector bodies. Whilst it’s not – or not yet – the case in the private sector, it makes good business sense to open your marketing activity to all, especially if you want customers to transact with you online.

• How to audit your own website
